Is so hard to manage time and activities? It depends on the style you teach!
So, keep reading guys!
TIME MANAGEMENT
If you have already reads my Biology Teaching Plans, i think manage time isn’t very hard. First of all, for being a good teacher you must know about your allocation times and how you manage them!
For me as a student teacher i use this strategy :
15 % For Initiation / Pre-Tasks
30 % For Theory (Presentation, Videos, etc)
40 % For Student Activity (QR Codes Learning, Make a Match learning, etc)
15 % For Closure and maybe Post-Test
If you have observe your class before, you can counting what time you must move to another stage and what times you need to make student fully understand about your content.
In my complex Lesson Plans which is Nutrition and Respiratory System, you can see the detailed information about how long did i take to move from one stage to another, from what subtopics to another. It helps me a lot to control my time in the class.

Another things that you need to concern is about is your students get bored or not? It’s okay to give them a mini-games or ice-breaking if there are not focus anymore. As i say in my Teaching Tips, do not give students a lot of information at short times, do more student activity.

ORGANIZING ACTIVITIES
This is the hardest part for me in my early teaching days. Why? Because i don’t know what will attract student attention. I used to dominate the whole class from the beginning until the end of the class :(. But it’s over when Mr. Steve, my mentor said that ” Give students more time to write and ask next meeting “. It’s change the way i teach!
The next meeting i just use a lot of pictures, videos and gif to attract student attention. And it works! After that i realized there is a pattern which is something like this :
Gain student attenttion for the first time > Aperception> Motivation > Bring them to the main topics by a question > Explain the theory > Student Activity > Asking Time > Conclusion of the Day.
In organizing activity there is two ways which i have found from this program which is :
1. If you start Student Activity first, students will ask you more which is good, but it will be need a lot of time. (The theory will be hard to given, or you must have another meeting to finish the concept).
2. If you start with Theory first, students will ask less and more active because they know the basic concepts (not too challenging).
So, from this ways, we can conclude that.. If the concepts were not too many you can use student activity first to engage a better learning experience. But if there are many concepts in that days, you need to teach them about theory first and then student activity.
It’s so fun yet challenging experience to know this experiences. Makes me want to explore a new, innovation ways of teaching even more!
Best Regards,
